Accessibility
At P4T, we believe that our nation’s waterways should be accessible to all citizens, and waterways best suited for paddling have adequate, safe and convenient points of entry/exit. To further that goal, P4T partners with local, state & federal agencies as well as other environmental & recreational groups to bring about these access points. We also believe those that have access should properly steward and use the resource. Outdoor enthusiasts have a long and rich history of being conservationists. We believe involving more or our fellow citizens in outdoor activities and demonstrating sustainable use of the resources is the surest way of protecting them. Participation
Call us naïve. We believe that almost everyone on the planet can participate in paddle sports. We have seen it. We have been there. Wheelchairs are no impediment. If you can sit in a chair you can probably sit in a kayak or canoe. With a small amount of help, the blind can get out to paddle and even to fish. Injury does not hold you back. Whether you come out with a therapist or with a family member helping you to rehab from an injury, you can participate. We’ve been there. We’ve done it. Access is the first step and we are committed to it. Participation is a natural once we have the access. We are here to help people participate. Let us know how we are doing. See how we’re increasing participation in paddlesports…
Sustainability
We have much to learn from our children. And we must leave them a legacy. Take a look at our Blog page (link) to see how children respond to the concept of sustainability. It is hard to add to what they say. But consider this musical collaboration by John Barlow and Brent Mydland. “We don’t own this place though we act as if we did. It belongs to the children of our children’s kids. The actual owners haven’t even been born yet.” (1989 @ Ice Nine Publishing) Keep it clean. Pack out the trash. Leave it better than you found it.
